Breastfeeding and early developmental outcome

Here we present a summary of the results of one study that examined the effect of breastfeeding on the early development of children. Developmental testing was undertaken at 12 and 24 months of age.

Morrow-Tlucak, Ernhart et. al. ( Memorize Morrow-Tlucak, 1988 ) used the Bayley Mental Development test in a study of 219 Cleveland, Ohio children.

Breast Fed Mean Score at 12 months at 24 months
not 111.6 101.0
< 4 months 114.9 104.9
