A male infant presents for his two week checkup. He was born after a 36 week gestation uncomplicated pregnancy, labor, and delivery to a primigravida mother. Birth weight was 2.7 kg. Discharge weight at 2 days of age was 2.6 kg. Mother is nursing every four hours during the day and is very happy that the infant is sleeping 8 hours at night. She feels that breastfeeding is going well and that the infant is getting enough to eat because he sleeps 3 to 4 hours at a stretch. Her husband is supportive of her breastfeeding. Physical exam reveals a very alert bright-eyed infant who was looking around. His weight is 2.6 kg. His physical exam is normal.
